Raised in the suburbs surrounding Gotham City, James Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie) has created a romantic version of the city, a fascinating and exciting metropolis in which his father worked as a district attorney. Courageous, honest and ready to prove himself, the neo-detective is coupled with a police legend the abrupt but shrewd Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), to investigate the case with the highest profile ever in the city: the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne. At the crime scene, Gordon meets the only survivor: the tortured 12-year-old son of Wayne, Bruce ( David Mazouz ), with whom the young detective feels an inexplicable affinity. Moved by the boy's deep suffering, Gordon swears to capture the killer. It is a friendship that will last for their whole life, playing a crucial role in helping the little boy become the vigilante he is destined to be.
Season 1: 12-year-old Bruce Wayne watches his parents being shot dead by a masked criminal. Season 2: Things are not going well for Jim: he was demoted to the uniformed service and fired after a handshake with a colleague. Without further ado, he asks Gotham's new king, Penguin, for help. He makes an immoral proposal. Meanwhile, Bruce and Alfred invade the secret cellar vault of Bruce's father. There Bruce finds a letter from his father, which says that he must decide on his life either for luck or the truth.
